Makfi_x_Primera_Dama_foalFirst Foal for Makfi

Westbury Stud's internationally acclaimed three-year-old & miler of 2010, Makfi, was represented by his very first southern-hemisphere foal in the early hours of this morning at Don & Dawn Mackinnon's Karaka based agistment property Blackbridge Park.

"We are wrapped with the filly. She has a great shoulder on her and is extremely well put together, not a bad start at all!" Don said.

This filly is the fifth foal from the stakes placed performing Danzero mare, Primera Dama, who is a half-sister to the dual stakes winner Enjoy Dancing and the Group 3 placed Navy Blue.

Westbury Stud's CEO, Russell Warwick, is thrilled with the filly and is confident the stock of Makfi will be well-received amongst his supporters last season.

"She has good leg under her, a nice shoulder and has really taken after her sire - we couldn't be happier with the result" Warwick said.

Makfi has returned to New Zealand in outstanding order, after covering a full book of 155 mares in the northern-hemisphere, and will look to cover another high quality book of mares this season here at Westbury including the likes of Imposingly (dam of Gr.3 winner Full Of Spirit), Golden Gaates (full-sister to Gr.1 King Stand Stakes winner Little Bridge) and Raise The Play (dam of Gr.2 winner Bellini Rose) - just to name a few.

Makfi stands for $27,500 + GST at Westbury Stud with no fee payable until 1 June 2013
