NiobeNiobe to Resume at Newcastle

Westbury Stud's juvenile stakes placed graduate, Niobe (pictured), is looking to resume in a $22,000 three-year-old maiden race over 900m at Newcastle tomorrow.

The highly regarded daughter of Niello hasn't seen the race track since her debut back on the 19th of November last year when running third in the Listed Murdoch Newell Stakes over 1100m behind proven juvenile performers Travino and Silk Pins.

Since departing New Zealand, Niobe has recently taken part in two individual trials this month and has won them both in convincing fashion.

Her first trial

Niobe is from the unraced Red Ransom mare Mother who is a daughter of the Group 2 placed mare Tanith, making Mother a very close relation to Group 3 winner, and sire, Bel Danoro.

Mother was represented at last year's Karaka Yearling Sale where her colt by Postponed fetched $25,000 in the sale to the successful bid of GS Bloodstock.

Niobe has always shown ability since first entering the stable of Andrew Scott here in New Zealand, and will certainly make her presence felt across the ditch in tomorrow's outing.

Niboe is owned by Watson Bloodstock Ltd and will be one certainly worth following this season.
