Happy BeautyHappy Beauty Scores Well at Sha Tin

Westbury weanling sale graduate Happy Beauty (Makfi) made it a good start to the Chinese New Year Raceday at Sha Tin yesterday when he scored a brave win in the opener, the Yue Yee Handicap over 1400m.

Happy Beauty sat three and four wide throughout for Matthew Poon and finished strongly in the final 300m and went on to win by a half-length from Winning Controller (Choisir) and Don Wongchoy (Pendragon). Trained by Francis Lui, Happy Beauty was a $40,000 weanling purchase at Karaka and has now won two of his 15 starts in the colony.

Out of the Mark of Esteem mare Starboard Light – a granddaughter of the English Oaks winner Bireme - Happy Beauty is closely related to Champion Hong Kong performer Indigenous, Group 1 winners Good Faith and Pure Champion, and successful sire Sea Anchor.
