Kementari Looking to Cement Guineas Favouritism23 Feb 2018
High class three-year-old Kementari will look to cement his position as favourite for the upcoming Randwick Guineas when he steps out in the A$400,000 Hobartville Stakes at Rosehill on Saturday.
Kementari could not have been more impressive when winning the Listed Eskimo Prince Stakes at Warwick Farm two weeks ago, but Saturday’s Group 2 Hobartville Stakes is a significant lift in quality and he will be need to step to another level come Saturday. Kementari has always looked better than average and boasts a record of 7 starts for 2 wins, 2 seconds, and a third including a second to Mighty Boss in the Group 1 Caulfield Guineas in the spring.
The Hobartville Stakes has been the traditional lead-up to the Randwick Guineas and the 2018 edition could be the strongest running for some time with Derby winner Ace High, Golden Rose winner Trapeze Artist, Magic Million Classic winner Pierata, Wakeful Stakes winner Luvaluva, the unbeaten D’Argento, and Siege of Quebec.
By Lonhro, Kementari is a half-brother to freshman sire Telperion (Street Cry) being out of the Redoute’s Choice mare Yavana.
