Belle du Nord Draws Wide in Laelia6 Apr 2018
Reliable Man filly Belle du Nord has had no luck all season with a constant barrage of rain-affected tracks, no luck in running, or bad barrier draws – and unfortunately for David & Emma-Lee Browne the poor run of luck has continued in Australia where Belle du Nord will start from barrier 15 of the 16 runners in Saturday’s Listed A$100,000 Laelia Stakes at Morphettville.
Group 1 placed at two and three, Belle du Nord’s last appearance was in the Al Basti New Zealand Oaks at Trentham where it appeared she didn’t get the 2400m. The filly’s previous run in the Group 3 Lowland Stakes was full of merit and there is no doubt she would have pushed top class filly Savvy Coup a lot closer had she had clear running in the event.
Belle du Nord is well due a valuable stakes win and the fact that she has only had one start over the 1600m of this weekend’s distance for a Group 1 second to Age of Fire and defeating Savvy Coup, there is no doubt she has the class to feature in tomorrow’s race. Victorian apprentice Zac Spain will take the mount in Adelaide tomorrow.
Victorian trainer Anthony Freedman is also hopeful of having his Reliable Man filly Reliable Dame in South Australia for the upcoming features in the next six weeks after she came from last to win against the older horses at Sale on Wednesday.« Back
