Swampland Makes Her Return18 May 2018
Talented racemare Swampland (Redwood) returns to the track this weekend after a long layoff when she steps out in the Listed A$100,000 Amgrow Bright Shadow Quality over 1200m at Doomben having not been seen out since running a good third in the Group 3 Maybe Mahal Stakes at Flemington in the spring.
An $82,500 yearling at Karaka in 2015, Swampland was unlucky not to win the Group 2 Let’s Elope Stakes during the spring carnival when narrowly beaten by Sword of Light after being held up, while her form from her previous start saw her running the smart Oregon’s Day to a head at Caulfield.
Trained by Henry Dwyer at Caulfield, Swampland has always shown well above average ability having had four wins – three of these in succession during the winter last season - and a further seven placings from her 15 career starts and collected stakes of A$240,000 to date. Swampland was given a quiet trial at Casterton recently over 800m and was never ‘off the bridle’ under raceday jockey Mark Zahra and heads to Queensland in good shape.
Swampland is out of the Volksraad mare Marsh Harbour who is due to foal to Redwood again in the spring of 2018.« Back
