Jolly Honour to Target 2019 Hong Kong Derby16 Jul 2018
Reliable Man’s son Jolly Honour, who is owned in Hong Kong by Phillip Ng, will head to Hong Kong shortly to begin his preparation for the 2019 edition of the Hong Kong Derby. The Chris Waller trained three-year-old has won his last two starts at Randwick and Rosehill and the 2000m trip of the Hong Kong Derby should play right into his hands.
Jolly Honour received a good run behind the leaders in the A$100,000 #theraces Handicap over 1800m at Rosehill on Saturday, but the speed proved to be very muddling, and leading jockey Hugh Bowman set the gelding alight with 800m to run, coming home their last 600m in 34.76 and winning by 1.3 lengths. Jolly Honour never looked like shirking his task for Bowman and was clearly the best stayer in the race.
Jolly Honour is out of the Ferocity mare Vexed, who won or placed in 8 of her 9 career starts, and is a half-sister the stakes winner Exit Time.
The Chris Waller stable have had an excellent run with the progeny of Reliable Man in recent weeks with Ombudsman a good winner a week earlier and McMahon winning on debut.« Back
