Julius WaikJulius Equal Favourite for Tarzino Trophy

The odds for the excitement machine Julius (Swiss Ace) were slashed for next month’s Tarzino Trophy Gr.1 after he returned to track with an authoritative win in the Allied Security Open at Te Rapa on Saturday. Trained by John Bell at Cambridge, Julius has won his past four starts and boasts an impressive win tally of 7 from 11 and looks to have returned in career best form.

It is anticipated that Julius will return to Te Rapa in two weeks for the Group 2 Foxbridge Plate, with a view to getting to the Tarzino Trophy two weeks later should everything go to plan.

Jason Waddell resumed is association with the big horse on Saturday and now has a perfect score of three rides for three wins on the son of Swiss Ace. Julius is out of the Danzero mare Oh So Royal, making him a half-brother to the Group placed Burnt Orange (Mossman) and four other winners, while her two-year-old colt by Reliable Man was purchased by DGR Thoroughbreds & John Thompson Racing for $220,000 at Karaka in January.

Oh So Royal has a yearling sister to Julius who has been retained and is due to foal to Reliable Man in September, returning to Swiss Ace this season.

Swiss Ace looks to have another exciting prospect with the three-year-old Von Trapp who stepped out for his second start at Te Rapa and put a strong effort to win but lost the race in the Steward’s Room after racing greenly over the final stages.
