Future Looking Good For Faltaat Mare

Time has been Miss Raggedy Ann's best friend and Matamata trainer Andrew Scott believes the best is yet to come from the Faltaat mare. The four-year-old has made an impressive move through the grades this preparation with two wins from three appearances.

"She's been a touch slow to mature, but she's always showed a lot of ability and is certainly going in the right direction now," Scott said. "We'll keep her in her grade for now and I think the autumn will really be her time and she'll be competitive in the fillies and mares races."

Miss Raggedy Ann is out of the Gold Brose mare Miss Pollyanna, who is a sister to the top-class but ill-fated Westbury Stud graduate Buzz Lightyear, a champion three-year-old Gr 1 winner of both the New Zealand 2000 Guineas and the Levin Classic.

She has now won four of her 13 starts with the latest a comprehensive defeat of the Rating 90 sprinters at Ellerslie on Saturday. "She can only win and she's beaten some strong fields," Scott said. "She's nominated for the Railway and the Telegraph and, who knows, if she keeps on this path she might end up there."
