Soulima Continues Fine FormMonday, Dec 7, 2009
Genuine four-year-old Soulima downed a competitive field of sprinters at Doomben on Saturday to continue his excellent strike rate. The well-related Westbury Stud graduate has now won three times and has only failed to weigh in once in his 13-start career.
The son of Stravinsky was sold for $A200,000 by the Karaka farm to the bid of trainer Harry Reed at the 2007 Magic Millions Sale on the Gold Coast. He is out of the Volksraad mare Equuleus, a winning half-sister to Nimue (Gr 1 NZ 1000 Guineas, Levin Classic), Sirstaci (Gr 1 Easter Handicap), Smiling Like (Gr 1 Wellington Cup) and Eurostar (Gr 3 Summer Cup).
Soulima is also an older half-brother to the lightly-tried Algeciras, who has a win and a placing in three starts. The Rock of Gibraltar three-year-old was sold by Westbury at Karaka last year for $500,000.
