In 2010 the world record holder for 2000m - Red Giant - joined the Westbury Stallion roster and is an exciting addition to the line-up. A quality individual by the leading sire Giant's Causeway, Red Giant developed and impeccable record on turf in the USA, running 9 nines on the grass for 6 wins and 3 seconds.
Among his six wins were victories in the Group 1 Clement L Hirsch Memorial Turf Classic over 10 furlongs (2000m), the Group 2 Virginia Derby and Fourstardave Handicap, and the Listed Restoration Stakes over 1600m.
Giant's Causeway, the sire of Red Giant, was one of the very best performers of his time and is now making a great name for himself as a sire of sires. In Australia his son Shamardal has taken all before him and already has four Group 1 winners from his first two years at stud, while other sons of the Storm Cat son to be performing well are Footstepsinthesand, First Samurai, and Aragorn.
The first southern-hemisphere crop of Red Giant's were well represented at the 2013 Karaka Yearling Sales in Janaury, which saw prominent buyers purchase his stock including the likes of; Trent Busuttin, Lance Noble, John Bell, Peter Izett, Stephen Gray, Lisa Latta & Tony Noonan.
Red Giant saw his debut yearlings fetch up to $70,000, while he was also well represented in the Select session with his stock averaging over $30,000 and his top lot being purchased for $60,000. Red Giant also enjoyed favourable results in the festival session recording the top price filly ($40,000).

"You won't find many horses who combine courage, class, speed, versatility and consistency more than Red Giant. This is a horse who gives 100% every time and seems to relish a fight. There is nothing this horse can't do."
