The Stud

The name Westbury has been a part of the New Zealand thoroughbred industry for twenty years now and prides itself on the quality of athlete we have consistently produced from the establishment.

Westbury Stud is owned by leading Australian identity Gerry Harvey whose business acumen and passion for the thoroughbred brings a breath of fresh air to New Zealand's racing industry. Gerry Harvey is a significant investor in the Australian thoroughbred industry through his Baramul Stud while he is also a major shareholder in the Hunter Valley-based Vinery Stud and leading sales company Magic Millions.

Westbury Stud is spread over two outstanding properties, the stallions and yearlings are based at the Karaka location just 30 minutes from the CBD of Auckland City and is less than ten minutes from New Zealand Bloodstock's world class selling facility at Karaka. Based on 212 acres, the property is one of New Zealand's most modern facilities with post and rail fencing throughout and home to the stud's seven stallions as well as the annual yearling crop.

Westbury-Waikato is a magnificent property located on the "Golden Mile" of Matamata's leading stud farms and stables and provides the perfect partner for the Karaka base and our long term business. The beautifully appointed operation consists of 300 acres of prime Waikato farmland and plays home to Gerry Harvey's extensive broodmare band - which numbers 150 - and the progeny from these mares through to weaning.

It is our aim to continually 'raise the bar' at Westbury with the level of expertise and quality of management employed at the property, while we take great pride in the achievements of the horses we are entrusted with during their formative years.
