The name Westbury has been synonymous with the New Zealand thoroughbred industry for more than twenty years now and prides itself on the quality of athelete we have consistently produced from the property.

Westbury Stud is owned by leading Australian identity Gerry Harvey, whose business acumen and passion for the thoroughbred brings a breath of fresh air to New Zealand’s racing industry.

Gerry Harvey is a significant investor in the Australian market through his Baramul Stud, while he is also a major shareholder in the Hunter Valley-based Vinery Stud and the Harvey family own the high profile selling company Magic Millions.

Westbury Stud is spread over two outstanding properties, the stallions and yearlings are based at the Karaka location just 30 minutes from the CBD of Auckland City and is less than 10 minutes from New Zealand Bloodstock’s world class selling facility at Karaka. Based on 212 acres, the property is one of New Zealand’s most modern complexes with post and rail fencing throughout and home to the stud’s 8 stallions as well as the annual yearling crop.

Westbury-Waikato is a magnificent property located on the “Golden Mile” of Matamata’s leading stud farms and stables, and provides the perfect partner for the Karaka base and our long term business. The beautifully appointed operation consists of 300 acres of prime Waikato farmland and plays home to Gerry Harvey’s extensive broodmare band which now totals in excess of 180 mares.

It is our aim to continually ‘raise the bar’ at Westbury and in 2013 the farm produced Ruud Awakening to win New Zealand’s richest race, the $1,000,000 Karaka Million, while resident first season sire Swiss Ace produced yearlings to top the final three days of selling at the National Sales at Karaka.
