PeacefulPeaceful (Ending) to Season in Champagne

The Murray Baker/Andrew Forsman trained Peaceful (Savabeel) heads to Riccarton this weekend in an effort to end the season with a black type victory in the $50,000 Berkley Stud Champagne Stakes over 1200m and set herself up for an exciting three-year-old season later in the year.

A $260,000 yearling purchase by Bruce Perry on behalf of G P Clarke, JML Bloodstock Ltd (Mgr: L Petagna) & P W O'Rourke, Peaceful has shown good ability in her three starts to date and her most recent outing for a strong second to Santa Catarina was full of merit. Peaceful is out of the Mossman mare Paloma, making her a half-sister to Lisa Latta’s stakes placed mare Miss Fi (Makfi), while a half-brother to Peaceful by El Roca made A$210,000 at the Gold Coast Magic Millions Yearling Sale in January and is destined for the stable of Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott.

The Champagne Stakes has drawn a very competitive bunch of two-year-olds Khimar War (Sweet Orange) an impressive last start winner on the course, Lisa Latta’s Secret Allure (Zacinto) bringing good form into the race, and Xpressmymind (Shamexpress) another with winning form and in the market.

Peaceful will be ridden by Lisa Allpress in the Champagne Stakes.
