Lumberjack Looking to Drop Rivals10 Aug 2018
The Chris Gibbs & Michelle Bradley trained Lumberjack looks a big chance to break through for his first win at Ruakaka on Sunday when he lines up in the Northland Business Systems Maiden over 1200m.
A three-year-old gelding by Redwood, Lumberjack couldn’t have been any more impressive at his debut back in June. Slow away over the 900m dash, the impressive looking gelding was five lengths behind the second to last runner on the turn, storming home along the fence over the final 300m to finish fifth just 2.7 lengths behind the winner Hapi Ella - his closing sectionals for the race must have been very impressive.
Lumberjack was a $65,000 yearling purchase at Karaka for Donna Logan and is raced by D Logan, OTI Management, I Pearson, A Bradley, S Hodder, M Manley, W Lissington, J Hughes, C & S Woods. Out of the Red Ransom mare Margravine, Lumberjack is closely related to Australian stakes winners Latin News, Marauding, Springsteen, Biscalowe, and Savanna Amour.
A win on Sunday could well be the starting point of bigger things to come with the gelding being touted as potential Derby prospect in the future.
