Livin On A PrayerRedwood Mare Primed to go One Better

Redwood mare Livin’ On a Prayer ran very well in a fresh state at Hawkes Bay four weeks ago when she finished a bold second to the promising Te Akau Shark, and the talented mare looks well placed to go one better in tomorrow’s West Book Wines Waimauku Handicap over 1200m at Avondale.

Trained at Matamata by Wayne Hillis, Livin’ On a Prayer is raced by her breeders Mrs S M Hare, W P Hillis & J F Marks and comes into tomorrow’s race with just 54kg. There is plenty of talent among the opposition with Ronchi, Love Affair, All Roads, and Untamed Diamond all being very capable gallopers, but it would appear that Livin’ On a Prayer should get a nice run behind the speed from a handy barrier draw of 5, making her very competitive from her position in the weights.

Livin’ On a Prayer is out of the Group 1 winner It’s My Sin and has had 4 wins and 4 seconds from her 13 career starts and includes a win in the $80,000 Dunstan Feeds 1500 Championship Final while she was close up behind Thee Auld Floozie, Lizzie L’Amour, Coldplay, and Montoya Star in the Group 2 Westbury Classic.
