augilarReady to Run Graduate D’aguilar to Remain Unbeaten at the Valley

A graduate from last year’s Westbury Stud draft at the New Zealand Ready to Run Sale is strongly tipped to keep his unbeaten record intact when he steps out in the Essemdon Mitsubishi Handicap at Moonee Valley tonight.

D’aguilar is by High Chaparral from the Redoute’s Choice mare Spina Rosa and was a $130,000 purchase by leading bloodstock agent John Foote for long-time client Ian MacCauley. Trained by Darren Weir at Ballarat, D’aguilar was most impressive when he won his debut over 1350m at Donald in early October and the impressive looking colt makes his second appearance at tonight’s meeting at Moonee Valley.

Stepping to 1600m tonight should be ideal for D’aguilar and with the 1.5kg claim for apprentice Ethan Brown, the three-year-old should prove very hard to hold if he can cope with his first experience at Moonee Valley.

Bred by Watson Bloodstock, D’aguilar is out of Spina Rosa - a three-quarter sister to the dual Group 1 winner Lotteria and from the family of Bellota, Rocket Racer, Lord Reims and company.
