Swiss Ace-1Miss Federer Looking to Ace Rivals in Welcome Stakes

The fantastic run of form of the Swiss Ace progeny looks set to continue tomorrow as the Andrew Carston trained Miss Federer tackles her first black type assignment in the Listed Barneswood Farm Welcome Stakes on the final day of the New Zealand Cup Carnival at Riccarton.

The two-year-old filly looked smart when she defeated race rival Challa (Dissident) at her most recent start, showing good natural speed to position herself outside the leader (Challa) in the early part of the race, and drawing away over the concluding stages to win by 1.3 lengths. A step up to the 1000m should not be of any concern for Miss Federer and a victory in the race will provide trainer Andrew Carston with his first black type winner.

A $10,000 purchase by her trainer, Miss Federer was bred by Nearco Stud and is raced by Mark & Dawn Dowling, Clint & Jill Tauri, Russell & Ros McClean, Dave & Jill MacGibbon, Brian & Margaret Sheppard, Beau & Ann Trevathan, Lindsay & Kaz Harliwich, Joy Isaacs, Janice Banks & Terry Williamson.

Swiss Ace has had some smart horses racing of late with talented Hong Kong performer Little Giant, three-year-old fillies Miss Labasa and Kiss My Swiss both unbeaten in two career starts each, Top Prospect an impressive winner at Flemington last week, along with Rose Bowl and Swiss Maid.
