Belle du NordBelle du Nord Resumes in Listed Levin Stakes

Group 1 performer Belle du Nord steps out for the first time this season in the Listed Levin Stakes at Otaki this afternoon after wet tracks have delayed her reappearance. Trained by David and Emmalee Browne the Reliable Man mare has had two trials to ready her for today’s outing, winning both impressively, and while the 1200m of today’s race could be well short of her best a good speed will see her finishing off strongly.

Belle du Nord finished second to Melody Belle in the Group 1 Manawatu Sire’s Produce Stakes as a 2YO and went down narrowly in the Levin Classic to Age of Fire (Fastnet Rock) with Savvy Coup (Savabeel) back in third.

The daughter of Reliable Man ventured to Australia in the Autumn where she raced in South Australia twice, finishing fifth in the Listed Laelia Stakes over 1600m in her first attempt and then third behind subsequent Group 1 winner Sopressa (So You Think) in the Group 3 Schweppervescence Stakes over 1800m.

Belle du Nord did show good ability as a two-year-old over the shorter trip when beating Aloisia (Azamour) and Hard Merchandize (Burgundy) over 1200m at Trentham.
