Hypnos Tackles First Black Type7 Dec 2018
Roger James and Robert Wellwood will test their promising three-year-old Hypnos (Reliable Man) in black type company for the first time on Saturday when he ventures to Ellerslie for the $70,000 Group 3 Bonecrusher Stakes over 1400m.
Hypnos was an authoritative winner on debut under Jason Waddell and has since had three starts for two second placings. The last start second by Hypnos at Tauranga had plenty of merit when caught late by race-rival Masetto when looking to be in for a comfortable win. Still learning his trade Hypnos has not been favoured in the terms of barrier draw with marble number 13 of 13, but one would suspect there will be plenty of speed on with Bocce, Lankawi, Total Excess, Spirits Aubeer, and Roll the Dice all horses capable of racing near the speed.
Hypnos is raced by Ron and Fran Dixon who have generally got a nice horse around them and have had a long association with the Roger James stable.
