Darren Weir’s highly talented stayer Night’s Watch (Redwood) has resumed training after a well-earned spell following the spring carnival with his eyes on a late summer and autumn campaign for the five-year-old.

Night’s Watch stepped to a new level this season, going down narrowly in the Group 2 Dato Tan Chin Nam Stakes over 1600m before backing up and winning the Naturalism Stakes Gr.3. The spring campaign for Night’s Watch took in six races and included the Caulfield Cup Gr.1 and Caulfield Stakes Gr.1 – his six starts netting two wins, a second, and a third for A$217,250.

Raced by OTI Racing, Gerry Harvey, and partners, Night’s Watch has made natural improvement through each of his preparations and one would expect to see the fully furnished product when he returns to the racetrack in the months ahead.

Night’s Watch is out of the Exceed and Excel mare Glory Run, and comes from the family of Penny Gem, Fairy Gem, Altrista, Entirely Platinum, Foxy Blonde, Capestad and Zalinda. Glory Run sold a Reliable Man colt at the 2018 Gold Coast Sale for $400,000 and the farm will offer a full sister to this colt at this year’s edition of the Magic Millions Sale (pictured).

Glory Run has a full sister to Night’s Watch at foot and is back infoal to Redwood.
