Glory Days After Five in a Row21 Dec 2018
Red Giant mare Glory Days will be looking for her fifth win in succession when she tackles the Group 3 Manawtu Cup at Awapuni on Saturday.
Trained at Waverley by Bill Thurlow, Glory Days has always looked to be an above average racehorse but the patience to allow the mare the time to mature, has seen her go to a new level in recent months, culminating in a strong win in the Listed Wanganui Cup at her most recent start.
With the Kevin Myers trained Overtheriver heading the weights, Glory Days comes into the race on a very nice weight with just 55kg – just 2kg over the minimum – and sees her listed as a $2.60 favourite with the NZ TAB.
Glory Days is still lightly raced as the owner of just 20 starts and she has been very consistent as the winner of 8 races with a further 4 placings to her credit. Bred by J D Georgetti & Ms G E Kenny, Glory Days is raced by G D & Mrs P A Thurlow & B J & Mrs S A McAree and has significant value as a broodmare going forward.
Glory Days is the second foal of the Montjeu mare Bilancia, making her a half-sister to the Canterbury Belle Stakes winner Kasumi (Shinko King). Now owned by Graeme Hunt’s Cambridge Hunt Ltd, Bilancia has produced foals by Alamosa, Shocking, and Per Incanto since Glory Days and was due to foal to Reliable Man in 2018.« Back
