Redwood Three-Year-old Out to Make it Three in a Row18 Jan 2019
The Lisa Latta trained Platinum Invader (Redwood) will look to take his form line to three in a row when he contests the $40,000 Lincoln Farms Premier over 2200m. The black three-year-old is part-owned by the race sponsor Lincoln Farms in conjunction with Neville McAlister and was a $25,000 by his trainer at Karaka and the style of his most recent victories suggest he could easily be a Vodafone NZ Derby prospect while a win against the older horses tomorrow would be a meritorious effort.
Platinum Invader won in impressive fashion two starts back over 1600m and repeated the dose when coming from a long way back over 2100m at Otaki, going on to win by three lengths. Platinum Invader is out of the Danehill Dancer mare Atomic Dancer and will be ridden by Robert Hannam.
Redwood will also have his high class daughter Livin’ On a Prayer running in tomorrow’s Telegraph Handicap Gr.1. who should relish the 1200m at Wellington which is often won by a good 1400m horse. Redwood has had a great winning run with his progeny in recent weeks with Sword in Stone, Salt Bay, and Red Valentine all saluting in the past week.
