MoerakiMoeraki Making Long Awaited Debut

El Roca two-year-old Moeraki will make his eagerly anticipated debut when he steps out at Te Rapa today in the opening race. Trained at Matamata by Danica Guy, Moeraki has had three trials – winning his last two impressively – and was scheduled to make his debut last weekend before he drew the outside barrier.

The scratching from last week’s event now looks a smart move after Moeraki drew the coveted barrier one for today's race and providing he does everything right he should prove very hard to beat. Out of the More Than Ready mare Go Kate Go, Moeraki was an $80,000 purchase for Upstage Bloodstock & Parklea Thoroughbreds at Karaka in 2018 and is closely related to Bonanova, Bonaichi, Fraternity, and Telesto.

Despite Moeraki’s scratching at Matamata last week, the race was still won by one of the El Roca progeny when Shaune Ritchie’s Bella Mente was impressive winner over Killin.
