Postponed mare Honesty looks to be a strong chance in tomorrows $50,000 Barfoot & Thompson 1400 at Ellerslie after an excellent effort when a fast-finishing fourth at her last start over 1200m at Ellerslie two weeks ago. Honesty had to go back from a wide barrier, settling last in the run and giving the leaders a big start turning in, before unleashing a storming run to grab fourth, running her final 600m in 33.89.
Trained by Graeme & Debbie Rogerson, Honesty has drawn poorly again tomorrow, but going an extra 200m should prove to be big assist and receiving the benefit of a 1kg claim for Ryan Elliot will also make the mare’s task somewhat easier. Honesty looks to be well in the race after having strong form around the likes of Rondinella three starts back and with clear running looks sure to powering home late.
Honesty is bred and raced by Gerry Harvey and is out of the Mossman mare Requiem Moss, and comes from the family of multiple Group 1 winner Shamekha, Shumookh, and Brave Warrior. Requiem Moss has a two-year-old filly by El Roca, an El Roca colt at foot and carries a positive test to High Chaparral’s son Redwood.
