Lord ArthurLord Arthur Sure to Enjoy Middle Distance

The regally bred Lord Arthur (Camelot-Imposingly) will be an interesting runner when he steps out in the Barfoot & Thompson 2100m at Ellerslie tomorrow. Having his first start past 1600m, the half-brother to champion racemare Bonneval, Lord Arthur restored the confidence of his trainers Murray Baker & Andrew Forsman at Te Aroha recently when more than a tad unlucky and just going down after putting in what can only be described as an indifferent run prior to that at Hawkes Bay.

Lord Arthur put up a very good effort at Te Aroha, losing his position mid race and having to “clear traffic” before he stormed home to just miss the winner’s prize, and one would say that he is perfectly primed to make his first appearance over a middle distance.

Raced by his breeders Peter Newsom, Mac Whitehouse and Tony Wales, Lord Arthur is not only a half-brother to Bonneval but includes Imposing Lass, Lady Cumquat, and Full of Spirit as Group winning siblings, while his dam Imposingly is a three-quarter sister to Derby winner St Reims and Melbourne Cup placegetter Champagne.

Regular rider Jonathan Riddell will take the mount on Lord Arthur at Ellerslie.
