Redwood 1Redwood Mare Shines at Warwick Farm

High Shine (previously known as Shine in NZ) made a great fist of her first start on Australian soil during the week when she proved a cut above her rivals over 1300m at Warwick Farm for ex-pat Kiwis John Sargent and James McDonald.

Bred and raced by Westbury Stud principal Gerry Harvey, High Shine was trained initially by Cody Cole and had three starts in her homeland which resulted in a sixth to subsequent ATC Oaks winner Verry Elleegant, an unlucky fourth behind stakes winner Elate, and then an impressive 7.8 length win over Group 2 winner Imelda Mary.

High Shine was sent to Australia in January along with two other Redwood mares – Austria and Volantis – to continue their racing careers in Australia and could not have started on a better note. High Shine is out of the Encosta de Lago mare Pure Light and comes from the family of Light Up the World, Chivalry, Peaceful, World Peace, Thorn Park etc.

Pure Light has a yearling sister and a weanling sister to High Shine following and is currently infoal to Street Cry’s son Telperion.
