Night's Watch Caulfield BNight’s Watch Heads to Easter Cup

Class act Night’s Watch has been given a few weeks to get over his disappointing run in the Group 1 Ranvet Stakes and will head to Caulfield on Saturday to contest the A$160,000 Group 3 Easter Cup.

Night’s Watch resumed with strong efforts by weight-for-age star Avilius before two uncharacteristic runs in the Australian Cup and Ranvet Stakes. The son of Redwood comes into the Easter Cup well under handicap conditions, allocated a handy impost of 57.5kg but somewhat lighter than the 59kg he has been carrying at his most recent starts.

Saturday’s race looks a good fit for the gelding having had three starts at Caulfield over the 2000m for two wins and a sixth in the Caulfield Stakes Group 1. John Allen will be reunited with Night’s Watch after having ridden him when the horse was in training with Darren Weir – Night’s Watch is now with the Ciaron Maher & David Eustace stable.
