Bronte BeachBronte Beach Looking to Further Marsh Record in Stakes Race

Reliable Man filly Bronte Beach will look to take Stephen Marsh’s record to five consecutive wins in the Listed Waikato Equine Veterinary Stakes for the two-year-olds at Te Rapa on Saturday after Santa Catarina, Ardrossan, Ugo Foscolo, and No More Tears have preceded her.

Bronte Beach is set to have her third raceday start and will be backing up after posting a somewhat amazing performance at Hawkes Bay last week. The Kevin Hickman bred and owned filly ran into all sorts of trouble in the run, almost going down on the corner, yet still picked herself up to charge at the leaders and then have the audacity to cruise on by to win by a widening 3.5 lengths!

A hombred for the Valachi Downs team, Bronte Beach was a fair fifth on debut on a Slow track but showed her liking for a better surface at Hawkes Bay and should get similar conditions at Te Rapa this week. Bronte Beach is out of the five-time winning mare Bronte Lass (Stravinsky) while her second dam Little Dorrit is by Sadler’s Wells making for an interesting mating when considering Reliable Man is also out of Sadler’s Wells mare.
