Little GiantBig Heart for Little Giant

It was a well-deserved victory for the Swiss Ace sired Little Giant who stormed home in the Group 3 HK$3,250,000 Sha Tin Vase over 1200m at Hong Kong Jockey Club yesterday having been knocking on the door for some big wins in the past months for trainer David Hall.

Like many of the Swiss Ace’s Little Giant has been a consistent performer winning  six of his 12 starts and had his first run against black-type company in December where he finished a very commendable fourth in the Group 1 Longines Hong Kong Sprint and has since competed in three other Group 1 features including a third placing in the Chairman’s Sprint Prize and fifth in the Centenary Sprint Cup.

Partnered in the Sha Tin Vase with top hoop Zac Purton Little Gaint carried top-weight of 133lb (60kg) but that didn’t deter the pair as they settled fourth in the run before edging out down the straight to power home for a three-quarter length victory.

Formally known as Blackcrown he began his career with two New Zealand wins under trainer Lisa Latta and while he will head to the spelling paddock now we will see him return to target the Group 1 Longines Hong Kong Sprint in December.
