Tamarack Tries his Luck in the McKell Cup31 May 2019
Tamarack will be looking to resume to winning form tomorrow in the Listed Elite Sand & Soil W J McKell Cup over 2400m at Rosehill after an unlucky run last start two weeks ago.
The Redwood gelding showed he was in prime condition two starts back following a freshen up when winning in determined fashion at Hawkesbury and he should be well suited to the extra distance in tomorrow's race having won twice over 2400m.
Owned by a large group of racegoers including his breeders Peter Newsom, Tony Wales and Mac Whitehouse, Tamarack has won over A$300,000 in prize money winning six times and placing on a further nine occasions and he will be looking to add his first stakes victory to his tally in the McKell Cup.
Regular rider Jay Ford is partnered with Tamarack starting from barrier 13 in a 14-horse field.
Romancer is another son of Redwood's who is gearing up for his next preparation and resumes tomorrow after having a decent spell. He will start in the Ladbrokes Odds Boost Handicap (1440m) at Caulfield and it will be the first start since transferring to trainer Grahame Begg. Jockey Clayton Douglas takes the mount getting top weight at 60kg and a wide barrier.« Back
