Redwood Pair To Compete in Ag Challenge31 May 2019
The Listed Ag Challenge Stakes 1600 set to run at Wanganui will be packed full of action on Saturday with Redwood mares Rosewood and Red Sierra competing against the likes of Dolcetto, Scapolo, Nashville, Platinum Command, Tomelilla and others.
Rosewood and Red Sierra have both been competitive at black-type level with the latter most recently finishing a narrow second in the Listed Rangitikei Gold Cup over race rival Dolcetto who ran third. Bred by Gerry Harvey and Whangateau Thoroughbreds, Red Sierra is now owned by The Bram Syndicate and is trained by David and Emma Haworth.
The Group 3 placed Rosewood was very successful throughout the winter months last year winning five times from seven races in succession. She has earned over $196,000 in prizemoney winning nine races to date for her owner/trainer Marilyn Paewai.
There are two other horses entered in the race that are half-sister's to each other both being out of the Gerry Harvey-owned mare Wednesday Rocks. Platinum Command (Red Giant) is a Group 3 winner while three-year-old filly Platinum Rapper (Makfi) has been competitive this Autumn and due to add black-type to her form. Both race contenders are trained by Lisa Latta with Neville McAlister a common denominator in both horses sharing ownership with Ashburn Lane Investments in Platinum Command and Lincoln Farms Bloodstock in Platinum Rapper.« Back
